Finding a Quality Contractor

1. First thing you should know is if the Contactor is licensed and bonded. You can easily find out by going to the following website: https://secure.utah.gov/llv/llv
2. Ask for a few references and call them. Who better to tell you about the contractor than a past customer?
3. Take the time to personally inspect different samples of the contractors work. An hour or two of your time will really help you decide on whom to use.
4. Have a written contract with the contractor. This will help if legal issues should arise.
5. Shop around. Get bids from several Contractors, but remember that you get what you pay for. The cheapest might result in the poorest quality.

Tips for maintaining your concrete

After going thru the time and expense of installing new concrete, few people take the time to properly maintain it. Homeowners can help keep their investment in concrete by following a few simple steps.

Clean your concrete. Keeping the concrete surface clean and free of stains. To remove oil stains apply paint thinner and cover with an absorbing material ie. cat litter, floor dry, etc.

Seal your concrete. Concrete is a porous material which means that water will penetrate the surface and can cause damage from inside the concrete. Appling a high-quality sealer after the initial cure and then each fall season after will help keep this from happening. Sealer can be applied in many different ways.

Chemicals. Salt and most De-icers can damage concrete surfaces. Fertilizer can damage the surface as well as giving an unsightly stain if left on the surface. Avoiding the prolonged exposure will help lengthen the life of your concrete.
